As part of the Crafting Connections event organized by Estudio Savage in collaboration with Camper for Valencia Design Fest 2024, we have developed an artistic project celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic Pelotas model.
The proposal focuses on reinterpreting the concept of "pelotas" (balls), exploring their potential as creative and functional forms that transcend footwear and inspire furniture design.
We started with the idea of the Pelotas collection, focusing on playfulness and the recreation of forms through cork and cellulose balls. This formal analysis allowed us to experiment with these balls, transforming them into structural elements. In this way, we designed two side tables where the balls, joined by a mixture of concrete and latex, serve as the base and core of the pieces.
The result is a set of tables with a unique and irregular aesthetic, where the balls seem to be contained within, as if they were moving or attempting to break through the surface. This dynamic gives the pieces a sense of life and movement, evoking the playful essence of Camper’s original model. By combining industrial materials such as concrete with soft, natural elements like cork and cellulose, we achieved a balance between the organic and the structural, maintaining the brand’s innovative spirit.
